If a customer wants a customized solution that is not covered by standard SAP applications, consultants are often faced with a big challenge. This was the case for our customer, a company from the metal industry with several production plants and sales offices in different countries. In particular, it was about delegation of authority. The company used data from individual companies as well as sales organizations to assess efficiency. The latter partly consisted of several companies. The customer's request was to create a simple interface where users could only be authorized to access data from specific companies or sales organizations.
Expansion of the authorization system and high transparency
According to the client's ideas, the user interface should be easy to maintain and have a high level of transparency. The aim is to use the interface to extend the existing authorization system. The solution to be developed was to use either analytical authorizations or classic customer logouts. At the beginning of the assignment, our consultants first conducted a feasibility study for this task.
Optimized solution through Business Add-ons
Once the feasibility was confirmed, our consultants examined different approaches to the solution, such as analytical authorizations and Business Add-ons (BAdIs). As a result, a suitable BAdI was identified as the most suitable solution. During the implementation process that followed, we also designed a control chart and it was integrated into this application.
In addition, our experts put the most effort into designing and implementing a customized solution that goes beyond standard SAP applications.
Xient Solution Factory for customized solutions
Especially for the development of customized customer solutions, we have our own service unit, the Xient Solution Factory. This enables us to integrate the interdisciplinary expertise of our individual consultants into the scope of our projects.
Based on our customer's request, our experts implement a suitable solution according to a specific process model. The advantage for our client of having this provided entirely by our own consultants was, first of all, that the solution became available within a very short period of time. In addition, the client was able to avoid the additional costs that would have been incurred by calling in additional specialists.
Added value through customized end-to-end solution
Due to the short-term implementation of the new customized end-to-end solution, the company no longer needs to create and maintain authorization objects in this business area. Even existing objects/items such as queries do not need to be modified. This saves at least half a day of work for each authorization that the customer needs to assign.
